So, how did I get here?

Live music is truly magical.

Today’s shamans are our musicians who can transport us all with their playing. Musicians are the inspiration for SLāNG.

My career of creating and supplying products to the specialty furniture industry (think Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware) led to travel in 2010 on a design trip to the factories where we produced furniture. 

I kept visualizing each piece with a rock & roll vibe—in my mind I could literally “see” designs for straps, cases, amps and other music related products using these same materials. Nothing like what I could “see” was being offered in the music accessory market place.

A few years later working with a very hip company and we started to conceptualize a plan to evolve their furniture and home accessory business into more music-oriented home furnishings company. We created a sofa/chair/bed collection with a rock & roll lifestyle customer in mind. The concept had some legs but was never fully realized. Still, the idea stayed with me.

Summer 2019. I was considering a career move, my wife and I were talking and she suggested I think about what I really wanted to do? I thought about that for a few days—then it came to me—what I really wanted to do was to pursue my idea from ten years before and blend my work with what I love: music!

So here I am launching SLāNG Guitar+Gear. The motto “speak your lānguage” refers to my pledge to create inspiring, unique, top quality products for you.

To start, SLāNG is offering inspired guitar straps. They are made by American craftsman using unique, top-quality materials with looks you won’t find anywhere else. SLāNG straps will be offered in both standards designs and as one-of-a-kind creations.

SLāNG will offer custom instrument cases. Re-working vintage as well as contemporary cases to SLāNG’s customers’ aesthetics.

I’ll be on watch for great decor ideas too.

Finally as all great brands should, SLāNG will also offer great personal gear. Picks, hats, shirts—and other cool stuff I have come across with SLāNG aesthetics: top quality, unusual, made by makers.
